I offer a free 15 minute phone call where we can get to know each other and see if we feel like a good fit. This gives you the chance to ask any questions and get a sense of how I work, with no pressure or commitment.
Person-Centred Therapy is the foundation of all my work. This approach trusts in your natural ability to grow and heal when provided with the right conditions of empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. I believe you have the answers within you, and my role is to help create a safe space for you to discover them.
This means offering a unique approach that fits your individual needs and circumstances. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all method, I adapt my style to what works best for you and what you're facing right now.
Creative and play-based approaches are particularly useful for children and young people who may find it easier to express themselves through art, play, or drawing rather than words alone. These approaches can help unlock feelings and experiences that might be difficult to articulate, allowing for deeper understanding and healing.
Trauma-informed practice is recognising how past experiences continue to affect us in the present, and understanding that healing happens when we feel truly safe. This approach focuses on creating stability and helping you regain a sense of control and empowerment in your life.
Sessions move entirely at your pace - there's no pressure to talk about anything you're not ready to explore. You might want to focus on something specific that's troubling you, or you may prefer to take time for deeper reflection and understanding. Some sessions might feel heavy, others lighter. Some might bring clarity, others might leave you with more questions - and all of this is completely normal and part of the process.
Childhood and adolescence can bring unique challenges - from big emotions that feel overwhelming, to friendship difficulties, family changes, bullying, anxiety about school, or trying to understand who they are as they grow up. Young people today face particular pressures around social media, academic expectations, and finding their place in the world. Some children may also be processing difficult experiences or trauma, or they might be neurodivergent and struggling to find support that truly understands their needs.

Working with children and young people is a particular passion of mine. I use creative approaches, including play, drawing, and art, because these often allow children to express things that might be difficult to put into words.
For the first session, I will meet with you, the parent or guardian, and your child, so we can go through some paperwork and explain how counselling works. After that, your child will attend sessions on their own, creating their own confidential relationship with me. Nothing is shared without their consent - this space belongs entirely to them. This approach helps children feel safe, respected, and in control of their own therapeutic journey.
Thank you for considering counselling, and for taking the time to learn about how I work. Reaching out for support takes real courage, and I want you to know that I'll respond to your message promptly and with care.
I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
